Lady Gaga- Telephone Music Video Review
The video features Lady Gaga versions of typical prison clothes. It also features some of the crazy accessories she is known for such as cigarette glasses and coke can hair rollers.
The lighting is generally very bright throughout. This coincides with the light heartedness of the video as it is obviously not meant to be taken too seriously.
There is a stuttered movement effect used to go with the way that she says ‘what’ while on the phone to mimic a phone cracking up.
The video is set in a prison and features areas such as the cells and the prison yard.
The camera shots have been edited to go in time with the beat of the music
One camera shot that stood out to me was the close up of Lady Gaga’s face while she was on the phone. She stares into the camera as she sings and it is like she is singing to the viewer.
The genre of music is pop.
The style of video is a mix between concept and narrative.

Genre Conventions- Progressive Rock
Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (also referred to as prog rock or prog) is a subgenre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It attempted to push the boundaries of rock music to a more artistic space by doing away with rocks usual verse- chorus structure. Examples of bands in prog rock include Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis and Queen.
Prog Rock usually contains lots of instrumental sections and the lyrics usually tackle complex themes in a fantastical manner. Bands used usual rock instruments such as guitars bass’ and drum kits but incorporated keyboard synths, pianos and jazz instruments such as trumpets.
Bands of prog rock usually made concept albums which had a deep underlying message throughout and used similar soundscapes to create tracks that flow seamlessly together.
Pink Floyd characterised the use of amazing lights and laser shows at their live performances which made the experience even more immersive

This song means a lot to me because it was the one which made me realise how songs can tell a story and share a message. I remember sitting outside my old house in the car when I was very young and this came on the radio and after it had played the radios DJ’s started talking about the lyrics and what they meant and the story it tells.
Early teens
50 cent- Outta Control
This song means a lot to me as it was on the first album I ever bought which was 50 cent- The Massacre and was one of my favourite songs on it. I used to sit in my room with my CD player and listen to it all the time.
Now
Ben Howard- Further Away
This song means a lot to me as it is my favourite song by my favourite artist at the moment: Ben Howard. His music inspires me to get better at guitar and I have listened to this song countless times over the past few months and it still amazes me.
